How to be something not real

How to be something not real
Lore Graham

Slip into spaces that aren’t there. Stare
at the cracks between clubhouse
doors until they widen into canyons
carved from quartz and paved with silver.

Scrub your skin raw, pluck every hair,
paint over old curses and new scars
with ink in every color.

Hold your breath as you punch holes
in the world’s paper-thin fabric,
creating impossible pockets to hide in, or,
jump out of.
